Antje Weithaas talks about Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 at SRF Kultur

"One-Hit-Wonder" do exist even in classical music: his Violin Concerto No. 1 has made Max Bruch world famous. Violinist Antje Weithaas explains at the Swiss broadcast station SRF Kultur in the programme “Kontext” what makes this work an evergreen till today and why Max Bruch is entirely unjustifiedly limited to these 25 minutes of music. A couple of years ago, Antje Weithaas recorded the complete works for Violin and Orchestra by Max Bruch with the NDR Radiophilharmonie (cpo).

«Kontext» is a daily background programme on issues of arts, culture, society, science, religion and politics. For one hour daily, “Kontext” wants to be a counterpoint against short-winded, fastly consumed reporting - profund, brave ans surprising.

The programme with Antje Weithaas is available online and can also be downloaded.
