German Record Critics' Award for the recording of the Beethoven violin sonatas

Antje Weithaas and Dénes Várjon receive the Annual award for their complete recording of the ten Beethoven violin sonatas on the label CAvi. Christoph Franke was the Recording Producer.

“The cycle completed with the third CD can be considered a reference recording. (…) Not highly polished, not self-promoting, but permeable to the freedom that Beethoven takes for himself and demands for all people. With a warmth that other interpretations lack, Beethoven the person becomes sound. (…) Two people have come together here who no longer have to prove their profound knowledge of the work and interpretative subtlety, and who give both away like a rich harvest to connoisseurs and new discoverers alike,” says the jury’s statement for the German Record Critics’ Award 2024.
